The Harbor

Picturesque for some, vital for many

Volda harbor is a place where the locals can store their boats, fishermen come to stop by, and where guests arriving by boat can dock their boats to take a stroll around the city. The harbor is in the center of Volda, and the guest marina is located at the outer ends of the floating jetties. Volda municipality operates a sanitary and service building on the pier. Here you can have access to toilets, a shower and even a laundry room.

Volda's local rotary club, Volda Rotary, is planning on building a floating sauna in the harbor. The sauna was planned for 2024, but it is not finished yet. By the winter of 2024 there is still no new information on when the sauna will be up and running. Until that sauna opens, the closest option to a pre-heated sauna in the area is the fjord sauna in Sæbø, a thirty minutes drive away from Volda. The sauna in the old dynamite storage at Andaneset is not pre-heated, and needs one to two hours of heating before it is ready to be used. Learn more about Andaneset in a bit.

Right next to the harbor is a huge ferry jetty. That's where the ferries for Folkestad and Lauvstad depart. And they're not just for the people who depend on the ferries to get to work or do their grocery shopping in Volda. They're also a fantastic way to see Volda from a whole new perspective!
